CORRECTIVE EXERCISES

The Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) framework by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) aims to help individuals regain a healthy posture in order to optimize the quality of strength training sessions, improve the quality of daily life, as well as reduce the risk of injury over time, by addressing muscle imbalances.

Corrective exercise is not a substitute for strength training or physical therapy. Rather, it is a complementary tool to ensure specific areas of chronic stress/deficiency in your body are addressed for physical activity.

The CES will conduct a full body assessment of six vulnerable areas in the body (Foot / Knee / Low Back & Hip / Mid Back & Shoulder / Elbow & Wrist / Neck), identify what movement patterns can be optimized and create a plan of action. In your following sessions, you will work towards building balance in movement by applying a 4-step process: inhibiting by applying pressure to tense muscles, stretching, activating weak muscles, and integrating the area in full body movement.

Corrective exercise adapts to a wide range of lifestyles, be it desk workers with aches and pains, athletes focusing on injury prevention, or someone seeking guidance and insight into optimizing their workouts.

We have three comfortable and soothing massage rooms for our invigorating and therapeutic Fitness Massage. Our customized and focused massage sessions are a blend of Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR), Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue, and Sports Massage. MEET THE TEAM

Carina Weston

Carina Weston

OWNER & PERSONAL TRAINER

Carina’s love for health and fitness started as a young girl growing up in Sweden. Upon moving to California in the early 90’s, she opened Pro Fitness Network. Her goal was to provide clients with the best in personal fitness through weight training and massage. As she continued to grow, she saw the need for other aspects related to better overall health. Acting on this revelation Carina developed a team of fitness professionals and added other wellness services such as massage, acupuncture, and nutritional counseling.

Carina was nearly paralyzed in a near fatal accident that broke her neck in five places. It took two years of grueling physical therapy, rehab and weight training to fully recover. Today she has no lingering pain from the ordeal. After surviving such severe accident she realized that you have nothing unless you have your health. With that in mind, she strove to create workout programs for all different kinds of people. Whether your goal is to get stronger, lose weight, or recover from injuries, Carina will help develop a workout program that is tailored to your needs.

Today Carina specializes in working with more clients at the same time for a lower cost, which is semi-personal training. Carina’s commitment to health and well-being not only helped her overcome this devastating injury, but it also deepened her empathy for others with similar circumstances and inspired her to help others achieve their health and fitness goals. Carina lives in the Altadena area, and is a the proud mother of beautiful twin girls.
