The Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) framework by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) aims to help individuals regain a healthy posture in order to optimize the quality of strength training sessions, improve the quality of daily life, as well as reduce the risk of injury over time, by addressing muscle imbalances.
Corrective exercise is not a substitute for strength training or physical therapy. Rather, it is a complementary tool to ensure specific areas of chronic stress/deficiency in your body are addressed for physical activity.
The CES will conduct a full body assessment of six vulnerable areas in the body (Foot / Knee / Low Back & Hip / Mid Back & Shoulder / Elbow & Wrist / Neck), identify what movement patterns can be optimized and create a plan of action. In your following sessions, you will work towards building balance in movement by applying a 4-step process: inhibiting by applying pressure to tense muscles, stretching, activating weak muscles, and integrating the area in full body movement.
Corrective exercise adapts to a wide range of lifestyles, be it desk workers with aches and pains, athletes focusing on injury prevention, or someone seeking guidance and insight into optimizing their workouts.
We have three comfortable and soothing massage rooms for our invigorating and therapeutic Fitness Massage. Our customized and focused massage sessions are a blend of Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR), Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue, and Sports Massage. All of our massage therapists are California State Certified and have backgrounds in multiple modalities, but most specialize in MFR.

MEET THE TEAM
OWNER & PERSONAL TRAINER
Carina’s love for health and fitness started as a young girl growing up in Sweden. Upon moving to California in the early 90’s, she opened Pro Fitness Network. Her goals were to provide clients with the best in personal fitness such as personal training, kettlebell training and Pilates. As she continued to grow, she saw the need for other aspects related to better overall health. Acting on this revelation Carina developed a team of fitness professionals and added other wellness services such as massage, acupuncture, and nutritional counseling.
Carina was nearly paralyzed in a near fatal accident that broke her neck in five places. It took two years of grueling physical therapy, rehab and weight training to fully recover. Today she has no lingering pain from the ordeal. After surviving such severe accident she realized that you have nothing unless you have your health. With that in mind, she strove to create workout programs for all different kinds of people. Whether your goal is to get stronger, lose weight, or recover from injuries, Carina will help develop a workout program that is tailored to your needs.
Today Carina specializes in working with more clients at the same time for a lower cost, which is semi-personal training. Carina’s commitment to health and well-being not only helped her overcome this devastating injury, but it also deepened her empathy for others with similar circumstances and inspired her to help others achieve their health and fitness goals. Carina lives in the Altadena area, and is a the proud mother of beautiful twin girls.

After suffering with back and knee injuries from years of dance, Lara found a way to heal her severe injuries as well as to stay in shape. In 2004 one of her dance teachers suggested she try Pilates. Lara received her Pilates certification through the Body Arts and Science Institute. She has also been studying how the body works and why all of us suffer from setbacks due to everyday wear and tear on our bodies, as well as the problems caused by inactivity. Myofascial Release & NeuroKinetic Therapist
Gary is dedicated to helping his clients address the root cause of their pain and dysfunction. Whether it’s related to injury, surgery, posture, exercise, or life stressors, Gary’s techniques help uncover and treat the root neuro-muscular-skeletal patterns that have created and perpetuated that discomfort.
He uses Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) as a way to assess, identify, and reprogram neurologic-patterning of muscles, ligaments, and movement patterns; and then Myofascial Release (myofascial massage, stretching, ball rolling, Rock Blades/Pods/Floss) to release tension and pain in the identified culprits. He finds Myofascial Release, in conjunction with Neurokinetic Therapy, to be profound therapies, helping his clients break free from bodily pain and physical restrictions.
Gary’s care for his clients’ wellbeing is obvious in his mindful approach and heartfelt presence.

Jackie is a California State Certified Massage Therapist (Cert # 68420); graduated from National Holistic Institute, Studio City. Massage and healing work has always been in her life, thanks to the gifted hands of her father who has worked in the field for 30+ years. Jackie believes that the body is a playground and empowers clients to explore, play with, and befriend it, in and outside the room. Her passion is rooted in using connection, communication, and knowledge to create a safe space. She intuitively integrates many modalities, years of experience, and passed-down knowledge to create a customized session that meets the client and their body’s needs each time they visit.
Always expanding her knowledge and skills, Jackie loves working side by side with her husband, Jonas (also a Massage Therapist @ PFN), practicing the 4-handed therapeutic massage technique that they created.
After graduating from École Hôtelière de Lausanne, a business school in his native Switzerland, Jonas decided to dedicate himself to working with people on a more personal level. As a Certified Massage Therapist who graduated from the National Holistic Institute, making a safe space for people to connect with, understand, and challenge their body is the core of his work.
His highly intuitive nature allows him to combine modalities such as Swedish, Deep Tissue, MFT, Thai stretches, and energy work to better adapt to each client’s needs. In addition, his training as a Corrective Exercise Specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine helps him not only to find the root cause of dysfunctions in the body, but also to make recommendations on movement patterns that will help even outside the room.
Always eager to learn about bodywork and to integrate new tools, he regularly collaborates with other practitioners to find the best possible ways to assist clients in their healing. Currently, he is developing a therapeutic 4-hand massage modality that he co-created with his wife Jaclyn Fernandez, who also works with PFN.
